Originally I Am Not, this blog is more or less a space for me to talk about problems in society I see throughout my daily life. Be that when I’m out and about, or through the tubes of the interwebs. More often than not, these are problems that I cannot talk about elsewhere. So I created a space where I can. This includes things like racism, sexism, cissexism and transphobia, homophobia and heterosexism, ableism and psychophobia and likely many others as time comes to pass.
As the former title suggests, there was an original theme of general assumptions throughout the world and deconstructing those, pointing out how they don’t work. I’ve since realized that I tend to suck with theme writing, constantly constricting myself into boundaries and not letting my mind flow naturally. I still have various series that I write, since branching out into multiple areas is overall easier for me than trying to stick to one. Instead of writing for a specific idea, I write what comes to mind and the connection to those structured ideas comes later.
Behind the Name
The name “Some Assembly Required” is an inner joke about how much time I usually have to spend getting ready to go out and do things due to my various disabilities. It came to mind with my last job, where I frequently had to wear five different braces in order for me to manage without injury or increased pain. Needless to say, this was time consuming. I also frequently joke about how I never received the instruction manual for my brain – or any part of me, really.

Comments
Is there a way to subscribe to your blog via RSS feed? I am not seeing any, but perhaps I am just missing it. Thanks.

Absolutely! Depending on your browser there’s a couple ways. In the address bar, some browsers have the traditional orange icon on the right hand side that can be used to subscribe using your favorite reader. That same icon can also be found on the left hand column of the blog, in the second section that lists a history of recent posts made. Unfortunately this theme doesn’t include a text link for the feed, something I wish it had, as I know images and icons aren’t universally accessible. I’ll keep an eye out for that when browsing themes to try to make this blog more readily accessible for folks. Thank you for letting me know about that (even if only inadvertently)!
